I am 15 weeks pregnant now and in my second trimester! I am starting to feel so much better as far as my energy level.
We have also discovered that this baby and marinara sauce don't mix. With both of the other kiddos it was chicken. This one is any kind of tomato/marinara type sauce. A real bummer because I love spaghetti and pizza!
I am much bigger this time around than I was with the past two, but that is ok with me. I would post a picture but it isn't letting me at the moment.

Christmas
This year we stayed home for Christmas(meaning Kansas). We truly missed all of our families and getting to see everyone, it was rather bitter sweet. We had a wonderful time just the 4 of us hanging out and being lazy. It was nice to have the quiet to be able to reflect on everything this season really means and to spend good quality time with our children.
Our celebration started on Christmas Eve, we got to skype one set of their great grandparents and open the gifts from them in front of them. That was a lot of fun. Technology is an amazing thing. It is nice to feel closer together when we are 1000miles apart. This is when Elijah got a taste of what was to come and he asked us a couple times for more presents. (we kept them all in our room, so he couldn't get too excited about them all sitting out.)
We opened presents on Christmas morning and it was so much fun to see Elijah get so into it. We had to open each present as it was opened and play with it for a minute. He would then get so excited because he realized there was still more to open! What a joy to see him have such a great time. He even helped mommy and daddy open some presents. On Christmas morning we got to skype the Turley family and the Luurtsema family. That made for a lot of fun as they got to see them open the presents from them. And Elijah loves to skype people and talk to them. That afternoon we got to skype Auntie Lolo and Uncle Robert. We stayed in our jammies all day, which was very nice(well except for me, I had to go to work that evening, but for everyone else it was pj day!)
It turned out to be a wonderful couple of days, and it was amazing that Greg got to have a four day weekend. It was great to have 4 days of nothing but family time. I hope everyone else had a fabulous Christmas.

Christmas is here!
Well at least in our home it is!
I love Christmas time. I love the meaning, and the God sent His son to this earth so that He might save us. What a wonderful gift of life. I hope that this season brings joy to every person. I'm really looking forward to really teaching Elijah the meaning of Christmas this year and starting some of our own little family traditions. Not sure what they all will be, but I will be sharing them as they come up!
We went last Friday and got our Christmas Tree. A REAL tree. I don't/won't do fakes. I love the smell of a fresh tree in the home and every year it gets to look a bit different. I'm picky about the type of tree, it has to be huge, usually 8-10ft tall and nice and fat, so it takes up like half the room. OK not literally half the room, but in a small room it sometimes feels that way. We hit the jackpot this year. Greg just keeps saying over and over, that is a big tree. He must forget we always have had a big tree.(he's getting old)
Elijah really enjoyed taking the tree home with us, and then he loved to help us put all the ornaments on. He didn't really put too many on, he more just handed them all to daddy, and said thank you every time he gave one away to place on the tree. What a sweet boy. He also loved the pine cones, you know those wonderful cinnamon smelling ones. He just wanted to keep holding them and smelling them, and then he would bring them around to us and put them in our face so we could smell them as well.
Athaiah just watched and played a little with some of the garland. When we lit up the tree her little girl eyes lit up too. She loves to just sit and stare at it. It is fun to see Christmas decorating through the eyes of a child.
After the children went to sleep, we decorated the rest of the house with little things here and there.
When Elijah woke up the next morning, he kept saying wow, and whoa every time he found something new or shinny in another spot. I again love seeing Christmas through his eyes and just the wonder of it all. And this is just the decorating part!
We still have to put lights on the outside of the house, maybe that will get done this weekend. Who knows, we are kind of party poopers and have yet to put lights on the outside of our house. We have had them since we moved it, just have never gotten around to putting them up!

First Ultrasound
We finally got to see our new little peanut today!
There is nothing like seeing and hearing a heart beat and getting to see a new little baby forming!
Takes my breath away every time. What a precious gift of life. I'm so excited to get to meet this new little one in a little over 6 months. It seems like time is really flying these days. Sometimes I just wish I could slow the clock down a bit!

Belated Birthday!
My wonderful husband's birthday was on Monday. He turned a whole 26 years old.
To celebrate, I got to take the night off work. We had a wonderful BBQ pork lunch, a steak dinner, and then we had some wonderful people come and watch our children so we could go and see a movie. What made it even better? We only saw the movie with 1 other person!! Talk about an extra special date night, I will admit that is one of the perks of living in a small town. How often do you get to see a movie with only 1 other person in the whole theatre? It was also a much needed break for the two of us to have a couple of hours with no children to worry about, and just spend some time together.
I think it was a good day. I hope he enjoyed it, I know I really enjoyed getting to celebrate his life all day!
Thank you Greg for being the best man around. You are such a wonderful encouragement to me daily and I thank God for you every day. I couldn't have asked for Him to put a better man into my life. And our children, well, they couldn't have gotten a better dad! You are a wonderful gift!

Looking up!
Things are really start to look up around here.
1. I'm over the stomach flu
*What I learned-mommy's have to be tough cookies, that is rough stuff when taking care of 2 little ones with another on the way, so thankful to my hubby for taking such good care of us all
2. Athaiah is sleeping better. Still isn't amazing, she is up about every 2 hours, but for the past 1 and 1/2 months it has been every 5-10 min, so 2 hours is a good solid chunk of sleep for me!
3. Elijah is listening a bit better to me, he always listens to daddy which is good. He continues to grow and learn several new words a day. I just can't believe how quickly they grow up. Where did my little baby go? He is turning into my little boy!
God always works everything out according to his plans. He has shown me mercy and grace when I need it most. He has caused me to see character flaws in myself while feeling tired and drained. I need to have a spirit of THANKFULNESS at all times. HE has blessed me beyond measure and I owe him everything.
My spirit of anger was doing great(almost gone, but are they ever really gone?), until I got exhausted. I would find myself yelling at the kids for nothing. I had to go back to square one and get things right. I had to be humble and ask my children for forgiveness. Yes, this is a very humbling experience even if they don't know quite what it means at this point. I'm so thankful that through all this learning and stretching, I have had the most wonderful and patient husband a girl could ask for. He has been by my side and has prayed with me daily to help me overcome the many obstacles in life. We have seen so many of these prays answered and I know it is because he has rallied behind me and has brought everything before God.
Thank you God for such a wonderful family. I can't believe you have chosen to bless us with another one. There are days I'm still in shock. But I am ever so grateful because children are such a huge blessing and even when my patience is tested I wouldn't trade them for the world.

Rough...
That doesn't even begin to describe our life the past month. Warning-not a very happy post, kinda grumbly in fact.
Athaiah is refusing to sleep. Which means she is up usually from 1130-230am crying every 5 minutes. A very draining process for mommy because she only cries louder, unless I go and pick her up and rock her. As you can guess this has made for a very tired mommy. And no to top things off she is sick with a temp at 102 for the last 24hrs so all the sweet little girl wants to do is be held my mommy all day and all night. I feel so bad for my little sick one.
My pregnancy this time around seems to be getting the best of me. I have awful nausea but only once 7pm hits. So the whole time I'm up with Athaiah all I want to do is puke:( Doesn't make for a very fun experience. With the other two, I never got sick, so this is a whole new situation for me and I will admit I'm not too keen about it!
Elijah is hitting a stubborn stage. Now he is still excellent most of the time, but he gets these moments as all kids do where he decides he isn't going to listen to what mommy said and do things his way. Other times he is an angel and helps me out with anything. He knows now that his dishes go in the sink after a meal, and to throw garbage in the garbage, and he helps with Athaiah all the time(as best as an almost 2 yr old can anyway).
So it has been rough. Through these rough times I'm trying to remain positive and keep going. Some days I will admit it gets extremely difficult and I just pray I can make it through the seemingly endless day.
The biggest things that helped me the past couple weeks.
I came home a couple of nights and my husband had done all the dishes that seem to be never ending.
I had 2 friends drop by for a visit and while I was giving the kiddos a bath, I came out to all the dishes done and a good chunk of the put away!
My husband has been so good to me, he has even gotten up quite a few times in the middle of the night when I simply cant get up 1 more time. I thank God that I'm blessed with such an amazing man.

Grass!
Yeah! I'm so happy we have some grass! Hopefully there will still be some more to come. But hey some grass is better than no grass.
Depending on how much we get I may fertilize and add more grass seed in the spring so we can finally have a pretty front lawn. Hopefully I will be able to add some extra flowers to the flower beds as well to really pretty things up!

Sugared Pumpkin Seeds
When we carved the pumpkin for Athaiah's 6 month pictures we decided to do something a bit different with the seeds. We decided to sugar them instead.
We first washed all the seeds.
Next, we melted 1 stick of butter, added 1/4 c brown sugar,1tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg, and 1/2tsp of all spice. Stir this all together.
Pour pumpkin seeds into the bowl and mix them up well.
Lay them out on a baking sheet so they aren't overlapping.
Take them out and enjoy!

Food for the baby!
It's about that time again. We are starting Athaiah on big girl food! I love watching them at this stage explore all the fun and different flavors of food. I made our baby food last time and we decided to do it again this time. It is way easier on the wallet than buying a whole bunch of the baby food in the jars. The run down on the cost is usually between 4 and 11 cents for 2 oz, which is about what they eat in the beginning.
I make a lot of basics and then I just mix them together to make a lot of fun and different mixes. Here is what I have made...pears, apples, bananas, mango, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, and squash. I need to make fresh of all the veggies as I had one small bag of each leftover from when Elijah was eating them. They have been in the deep freeze so they are still good to use, but won't last us too long.
She has tried all the fruit so far and has loved it. Last night she ate sweet potatoes for the first time, we mixed it with some pears. She couldn't get enough. My little eater is quickly turning into a big eater in just a few weeks. It is amazing how good she is doing and how much she is loving it. Her current favorite is pears, she can't get enough of them. She isn't too keen on bananas, it must be a texture thing, Elijah didn't like them until he ate them as finger food. Usually once she is done with all the basic flavors then I start to slowly add extras. A big combination of fruit for a fruit salad feel, or a whole bunch of veggies together. I love to add cinnamon and nutmeg to pears, apples, and sweet potatoes. They just seem to make them taste so much better, and it is fun for them because then they get a taste of something different.

(Cute little messy lips!)
I can't wait to finish making everything and to have fun experimenting with different types of food. I think this year I may make some pumpkin, it wasn't really too fresh when Elijah 1st started baby food, so I would like to try it this time. Speaking of Elijah he still loves the baby food, every time we sit down for Athaiah to eat he comes and sits right next to us and begs for bites the whole time. That boy and food, I tell you what!

New Shoes
Thanks to my wonderful family, I was able to buy some really nice, new running shoes. This I think was by far one of the best birthday presents ever. And thanks to a great friend, I got an amazing recommendation to a wonderful shoe store in Salina. Let me tell you what, we had an amazing experience and it is definitely a place we will go back to time after time.
I was finally able to take these bad boys out for a spin today.
Can I just say it is about time!! We got these on Saturday and with the kiddos because the kiddos were still acting a bit sick I didn't want to take them out in the cold for too long. The review so far....AMAZING! No shin splints, no sore knees, feet or hips. And to top it off when I was running it felt like I was floating. Excited beyond belief for our next run!
Here are my bundled up walking buddies. Aren't you jealous? No better walking/running partners that two little sweet peas. (yes that is a cucumber in little man's hand, we picked it when we got home and he insisted on holding in in the picture.)

Life Saver
We have battling snotty noses and barking coughs all week. Which make for some pretty long days and nights. The kiddos seem more tired then normal. Take this morning for example Elijah slept until 11am! What where did that come from? Athaiah has been still fighting her naps some and pretty much refuses to sleep unless I hold her(can we say princess?).
Any way on to my life saver...Vicks! Elijah has been coughing a lot at night and it wakes him up, but he thankfully will usually drift back off to sleep without any help. Athaiah on the other hand will not sleep. I think the night before last she maybe slept for an hour total. It was a rough night and surprisingly enough our day went pretty good even though we both didn't get much sleep. Last night we pulled out the vicks. Greg rubbed it on the bottom of their feet and guess what? Athaiah slept the longest she has...ever! She slept from midnight until 5:30 this morning, she ate, and then went back to bed until 8am. Which gave mommy some much needed rest. She also didn't sound nearly so bad this morning when she woke up. My official new life saver and go to remedy when the kiddos are sick...vicks on the bottom of their feet. (We had footy pj's on them both, otherwise you may want to cover them with socks!)

6 months
Happy 6 months to my baby girl!
I can't believe it has been 6 months already. Where has the time gone? I feel like we were just welcoming you into this big world.
You can roll over!
You love to eat your toes!
You try and stand by yourself, even though you have yet to conquer sitting.
You talk, giggle, and blow raspberries(one of your favorite noises).
You and your brother, get along so well. You both love to snuggle and wrestle.
Happy 6 months to our little pumpkin! We love you!

Fresh Start!
Here's to a fresh start! In our yard that is. Our front lawn(and back) have been a complete disaster. It is going to take a bit to really make everything look beautiful, but we plug away at it little by little!
This weekend(ok Saturday) I worked my hinny off in the front yard. Greg mowed to get all the grass really short. Then I went outside and got to work while he went off to play! I raked the yard, oh my goodness was that hard. There was so much junk in the yard(mainly acorn shells) all over the place I think it took me like an hour to do. This was the hard part, I went through the whole yard with my little shovel and dug up all the dandelions-and yes there were a million of them. Then I raked it again, with the hard rake to loosen up all the soil. Next came the compost...we don't have a wheel barrel so lets just say a bucket and shovel were my best friend and it took FOREVER! But I got it all spread out. Later that evening I put out all the grass seed and gently raked over it all and watered it to set it all in good. Here's to hoping it actually comes up, because that was a lot of hard work!
I went through all the flower beds, dug up all the weeds, cut back all the dying plants, and then planted new! YEAH! Greg bought me some mums and tulip and daffodil bulbs. We went to work on getting all those planted.

Now I can have a year round garden! Hooray for a beautiful yard all year.
Elijah had a lot of fun helping mommy in the garden!
I love to garden! Confession: I love to garden barefoot! I love to feel the mud and dirt on my feet-I know I'm weird.

Happy Birthday to me!
I had to give myself an early birthday present. Well to be honest it really isn't a present. I wanted to wake up on my birthday morning with no dishes in the sink, and no mess in the kitchen. So tonight after the kiddos went to sleep I got my whole kitchen cleaned up and ready for the morning!
So excited to wake up to this in the morning! Well good night all, see you tomorrow!

Rough Week
I'm just now able to post about this past week. Needless to say it has been a rough week. Where do I start?
Monday-Athaiah had to get her shots. Never fun, but I know it is a necessary evil and I actually hold myself together. I forgot to mention the appointment was during nap time! Elijah completely melted because he was ready for his nap, it was pretty sad because he normally does so good. I gave him a paci and a lulley and put him in the corner of the room, and told him to take a nap. He didn't fall asleep but thankfully he stayed there the whole time and didn't even get up to come see why his sister was crying. Athaiah was pretty good the rest of the day, thankfully. Night time was a whole other story...she was up every 30minutes just fussing. She would put herself back to sleep, but consequently that meant I was up every 30 minutes.
Tuesday- One very tired mommy! Elijah, who normally sleeps until 8, woke up at 7 which feels awful early when you have been up all night. Athaiah was clingy all day and would not sleep by herself, so every nap was taken on mommy's chest(which I really didn't mind). Athaiah, once again, was up most of the night fussing(and yes she was getting Tylenol).
Wednesday- BSF, so we get up bright and early. Get lunch ready and pack us all up so we can be in Wichita by 9am. We made it, I have no clue how, but we did. So thankful for that! It was nice to have a small break from the kiddos and get some much needed women and God time in! We had to keep Elijah up when we came home because McKids was coming to see him at 2:30 and by the time we are done with lunch it is 1:00. He made it but barely, he started throwing everything by the end of the visit because he was so tired. He got to lay down about 3:30 just in time for me to get ready for work. (Oh yeah, I have worked every evening until between 11 and 12, which definitely didn't help the sleep issue at all).
Thursday-Athaiah up at 5:30am and Elijah up at 6:30am. (I worked until 12 last night)Both kids whining and grumpy all day. They both felt like the needed to sit in mommy's lap all day. Now we are on day 4 of little sleep for mommy, a lot of work for mommy, and nothing done around the house because the kids needed so much attention. Which resulted in a stressed mommy! Normally I absolutely love cuddle time, but I will admit it was really wearing on me. I couldn't give them the attention that they needed and it made me sad. And the house looked like something blew up in it and that just made for a stressful environment. They were fighting their afternoon naps, so we spent 45minutes in the tub playing, so we could all be happy and relax a bit. Then it was nap time!
Back to work I go, stressed and exhausted. Work ended up being stressful and exhausting...now I just feel dead! I had to remind my self all day that God was with me and would give me the strength that I needed to make it to the weekend.
Friday- I have to get some much needed cleaning done as we have a friend coming into town tonight to spend the weekend with us. I felt like super mom on Friday-the only day this week(well let's admit it probably ever). I got the grocery shopping done, house cleaned top to bottom, lunch made and on the table for Greg, laundry done and mostly folded...AND took care of 2 semi crabby kids who needed a lot of attention. But I got everything done just in time for me to head off to work. But at least this day I left for work feeling like I accomplished something instead of feeling like we were barely floating. Our friend got in around 11pm that evening, and I was able to leave work at 10pm, so I got to chill a bit before the company came.
Saturday- MUCH BETTER! Got to spend the day with my husband(well, part of the day). We went to a car show in Salina. To Target for some diapers, because I had some coupons, and then out to lunch at chili's! We came home and I was so tired and so were the kiddos, the 3 of us decided to take a 2 hr nap. We woke up at 5, so I quick rushed to get dinner ready, because I had to be at work at 6pm. But overall, a much better day and a much needed nap after such a long week.
I wouldn't have made it this week, without constant prayer asking for strength. Looking back, I'm quite surprised we made it. I'm exhausted today and the kids seem to be now, although neither one would take their afternoon nap today(of course). They both went to be at 7:15 tonight, let's just hope I don't regret that come morning. Well since the kiddos are asleep, I should probably head there myself just in case they are up with the sun! Hope everyone else's week was better than mine. Here's to hoping this week goes a bit better-or at least allows for a little more sleep at night.

Back on track...
It has been about 4 weeks since I have walked. Uggh. I don't like that I haven't done it. I was sick, then was getting ready for vacation, then on vacation, then unpacking and cleaning, and this week has been crazy busy and quite rough with the kiddos.
BUT today, as tired as I am, I made myself go for a 2 mile walk. I only jogged a block and a half, and speed walked the rest. That was honestly the best I could do today, as we have not been getting much sleep around here these days. It felt so good to get some fresh air, and Elijah was so excited to get to go on a stroller ride. I'm so glad that we went and it feels so good to feel like we are finally back on track.
Good news is in that 4 weeks, I completely pigged out while we were home(such amazing cooks everywhere, you just can't turn the food down), and I am back down to pre-baby weight. Now this is big people, but not as big as pre-baby shape. I'm still working on that one. I need to find some good ab exercises to add to my daily routine to get rid of the flab there. But I'm so happy to at least be back where I started. If I lose more I will not complain, but I'm not looking to loose weight, I'm looking to be healthy. I want to be able to be around to see my kids grow, and to be able to chase them. Especially since my little man is starting to branch out on his own some! I still really would like to sign myself up for a 5k, we shall see what happens. I feel like it would give me something to work towards.
Well this house needs some serious cleaning so I'm off. Just wanted to check in for a bit!

Big Kids!
I do have one more vacation post, but I had to post on this today...more vacation tomorrow.
Elijah and Athaiah just grow leaps and bounds everyday. It never ceases to amaze me how fast things can change around here.
Elijah is WALKING, yep you read that right walking! He doesn't do it all the time, but he will just stand up and take off on his own. This is so exciting for me, as his mommy, to finally see him gain the confidence to let go and take off. It is so exciting to watch him toddle over to me all proud that he did it by himself. And when he doesn't feel like going it alone, he always motions for me to take his hand and we get to walk around the house together. I love that he wants me to help him, but yet is big enough to start branching out on his own. He has yet to have a fall and usually just stops, catches himself, and keeps going. What a strong young man he is starting to become. What an answer to prayer that he is finally confident enough to step out on his own. I love his cautious yet free spirit!
He is also teething at the moment. He has 4 teeth left to come in and every other time he has been teething they all come in at the same time. We shall see how many teeth appear this time! I must say he is the best teether ever, he doesn't ever whine or complain he just sleeps a bit more than usual.
Elijah is also recently mommy's big helper. Now that he can get around a bit better, he loves to help me around the house. If I tell him something needs to go into the garbage he proudly goes and puts it there. If something needs to be put in the sink, he's the man. If I need help wiping the table off, he loves anything that has to do with water-so sign him up! I love that he is learning be a responsible part of the family at such a young age.
Athaiah, our pretty little lady! She has grown so much recently not just in size but in everything she does. She has found her feet, and we all know feet are a lot of fun once they are discovered. She chomps on everything all the time, not sure if it is teeth or not as we have yet to see anything. She is almost sitting by herself! What a strong girl she is, and she loves to stand(obviously with help). She is also rolling over almost every time we put her down on the floor. She will also scoot herself in a circle. I'm afraid she will be moving well before her brother ever did, so we may have our hands full here shortly!!
We have just started putting her in the exersaucer for fun, and she loves it. She will walk around the bottom to spin herself around so she can play with all the toys, and she really does play with all the toys. She loves it, she just smiles and giggles the whole time. Another bonus, Elijah loves to walk over to her and play with her and she just thinks he hung the moon, so the two of them together have a blast. I can't wait for them to be able to chase each other around the house, I know they will have a lot of fun together.

Vacation Part 2
The next part of our vacation was waayy too short. We got to go visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Arnold at the lake. As a bonus we also got to see Great Uncle Mike! Here are some pictures from there.
Wish we could have spent more than just a few hours with them, but we were between places!

Vacation Part 1
Since we got to do so many things on our recent vacation, I will post them in parts. That way we don't overwhelm you with a super long post-as they will probably all be long!
The first part of our trip consisted of going up north to the lake house. This was to celebrate my Grandpa Loper's retirement and my Grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. It was also a family reunion as almost everyone from the family was there.

The trampoline was a highlight for all the little kiddos(well and the big kiddos)
Early morning on the lake, doesn't get much prettier than this!

On the boat with Auntie Lissa!
We had such a good time, and they are just a few of the snapshots from the weekend up north. But we really had a great time and a lot of memories to look back on and cherish!
